HOSPITAL IN GAZA, A HUMANITARIAN MISSION FROM INDONESIA

News about the tragedy Mavi Marmara ship that brought the world volunteers to Gaza, Palestine may become a new concern that in modern world today, humanitarian feeling is gradually changed. A humanitarian mission held by many volunteers, including from Indonesia to help their brothers in Gaza had to face high risk, including the worst one, death. This was a proof that even peace mission was not fully accepted in a certain country.

Before the tragedy, in Indonesia, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in a meeting on Saturday, May 29, 2010 with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas who was visiting Indonesia said that Indonesia planned to build a hospital for the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by donating more than two million dollars. The plan was a proof that Indonesia was willing to play a deeper role in peace process in the Middle East.

In the peace mission to Palestine, President of the Republic of Indonesia also expressed readiness to continue contributing to establishment of an independent Palestinian state as had been in Asian-Africa countries before. Indonesia had the stance and consistence to support the full independence of Palestine since it would bring true justice for Palestine and also the world.

Meanwhile, day by day Indonesian society also strongly supports the efforts of peace to Palestine. Indonesian always responds all the things that happened in Palestine in the form of peaceful demonstrations as well as send volunteers like in the peace mission in this 2010. To Indonesian, peace does have to belong to everyone.
