Barack Obama, U.S. President, in his visit to Indonesia took a chance to give Public Lectures or brief speech in front of thousands of invitations in the hall of University of Indonesia. The speech opened with a greeting Selamat Pagi, an Indonesian sentence for Good Morning.., he then continued speech by saying Assalamualaikum and Salam Sejahtera.

The way Obama said words in Bahasa Indonesia then was replied by applause and cheers of the audience. The situation became livelier when Obama said “Pulang Kampung Nih (Come Home Here), while giving his friendly smile. Obama also had a piece telling the story of his childhood in this Indonesia. Starting from how he played kite, caught a dragonfly, and repeated the words of satay and bakso sellers.

Public Lecture Speech by Obama wa a magnet for all who watched it. Obama was very charismatic and unpretentious. The viedoa and picture how Barack Obama gave speech was immediately hunted the netter. They wanted to see again how the child who spent four years of his  childhood in Menteng, Jakarta gave a public lecture at the UI. Theme or contents of the Obama’s speech was about democracy, development, pluralism, and religion.

Many Indonesian agree that Obama's  Public Lecture had a very good big influence. He stressed the importance of democracy, press freedom, openness, as well as the importance of justice and equal rights for all people of Indonesia. Many Indonesian hope that the arrival of the president of the USA will be able to actually provide a positive impact on Indonesia.
