If you are one of great divers, or merely a beginner one, visiting Bunaken may give you an unforgettable memory of being in paradise. Bunaken itself is a name of an 8 km² island, as a part of Bunaken National Park at the north of Sulawesi, Indonesia. Bunaken offers various underwater experiences such as 13 genera of corals living, mostly coral reef species and coral reef barrier.
Bunaken also has the most interesting vertical cliffs as far as 25-50 meters. Some fishes, approximately 91 species, found in the waters of Bunaken National Park, including gusumi horse (Hippocampus horse), white oci (Seriola rivoliana), yellow tail lolosi (Lutjanus kasmira), goropa (Ephinephelus spilotoceps and Pseudanthias hypselosoma), ila trunk and (Scolopsis bilineatus).
As one of the most interesting tourist place in Indonesia, Bunaken also offers types of mollusks such as giant clams (Tridacna gigas), the head of the goat (Cassis cornuta), hollow nautilus (Nautilus pompillius), and tunikates / ascidians.
For those who are curious of visiting this underwater paradise, the best visiting season is around May to August each year. Bunaken can be through the port of Manado, Marina Nusantara Diving Centre (NDC) in the District of Molas and Marina Blue loud. Blue Banter Marina using cruise ships are also available to the tourist area on the island of Bunaken.
