INDONESIAN SUPPORT FOR FOREIGN MILITARY

Indonesian community is mostly proud to support the military of other countries such as Malaysia, Peru, Suriname, or even NATO forces. Indonesian support is not mainly by providing them absolutely state-of-the art weapons but by selling textile for their uniform. Some units of Malaysian, Peruvian, Surinamese, or even NATO forces use uniform materials that are imported from Indonesia through a special agreement.

In an interview some time ago, in charge of the Defense Attaché, Embassy in the Latin American region, Colonel Supomo, said that the Peruvian army uniform cloth was imported from Indonesia, which is of a textile company in Solo. In addition, Suriname also ordered the army uniform cloth from textile companies in Malang, Indonesia.
Meanwhile, in mainland Europe, Indonesian textile also has been used by several military units. Some time ago too, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Forces had held a joint purchase of uniforms for a number of their units with export value of about 10-20 million U.S. dollars. In addition, the German military uniforms have also been supplied from local producers in Central Java. Not only that, the French military also has held a tender for the procurement of uniforms from Indonesian Textile Company.
In Asia alone, the quality of Indonesian textiles has also been trusted by the Malaysian military. Even when there was chaos between Tentara Diraja Malaysia between and Indonesian Army related to Ambalat, the defense minister of Malaysia said that how come the two armies engaged in war for Tentara Diraja Malaysia used the uniform of the products of Sritex, Indonesia.
The trust of other country's military certainly indicates that Indonesian textile products have been able to meet the required quality standards for army uniform in these countries. This also proves that the Indonesian textile industry and products have a high quality to penetrate the European market.
