An expedition held by Indonesian and U.S. scientists in North Sulawesi had found surprising results in the first week, an underwater volcano in the Celebes Sea , a part of Indonesian territory. This volcano became an important finding for understanding the wealth of the seas of Indonesia . The volcano in the sea was detected in the expedition with scientists of Indonesia and United States scientists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the auspices of U.S. Department of Commerce.
With its height of about 10,000 feet or approximately 3000 meters, this volcano became one of the main discussions among the scientists. As reported by them, this surprising volcano was located at a depth of 18 000 feet in the waters Kawio Islands , North Sulawesi . The discovery of this volcano was a part of the expedition of the ship Okeanos's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
This expedition had mapped 2400 square miles of seabed in Indonesia or the area of Delaware and would be completed on 24 August. NOAA Ship, Okeanos tried to explore the ocean in the area of West Kawio, Kawio Islands, North Sulawesi while getting a map of the volcano images. West Kawio was chosen as the area because of the elements of an expedition under the sea in abundance. Indonesian and U.S. scientists believed that they would find many new phenomena to understand marine ecosystems and climate change impacts.
